CONNECT WITH YOUR CREATIVITY TO SOOTHE YOUR SOUL
Engaging in arts and crafts can have a huge impact on your health and wellbeing, art is subjective, so you don’t have to be a professional artist to unleash your creativity!
The therapeutic effects of arts and crafts are well documented and historically were used as a form of diversional therapy for ‘shell shocked’ (PTSD) soldiers at the end of the first world war and continues to support mental health and wellbeing in society today.

HOW ARTS AND CRAFT HAS SUPPORTED ME
I come from a background of creative people, as a child I found great joy in all thing’s arts and craft, as I still do today. I have happy memories of being taught how to sew, knit, crochet and of squirrelling away empty cardboard toilet rolls for paper crafting!
I have a sad memory too where crafting was used as a distraction tool, I was 7 years old when my dad passed away and I remember being given some pieces of cardboard and various strands of wool, I understand now it was part of a meditative process to help clear my mind, keep me busy and help process trauma.
IT WAS ABOUT THE PROCESS NOT THE END RESULT
Although I was quite pleased with my gigantic pompom!
Creativity is a wonderful way to support your health and wellbeing, in particular when suffering from anxiety, low mood, low self-esteem and chronic stress – predominate symptoms of the menopause!
I am on a mission to build a creative community for women in their 40’s and 50’s to create time for self-care, unleash their creativity, enhance their health, happiness and wellbeing and create a life they love.
